can someone please explain to me why catcher and perks are always compared so much that people are like “catcher was already done, perks is the same”

i read perks on my own in grade 11, and have read it multiple times since.

i read catcher for school in grade 12.

i liked perks, i didn’t like catcher.

i never understood the whole comparison that people made between them and would gladly appreciate an explanation.
